Especially love that last line. Hurricane Irene in Vermont, just doing what she does.
Always thought the middle line of Haiku is 7 syllables. Pattern of 5-7-5. Could be fixed with “dependent upon systems”. Just sayin’. 😉
The 5 7 5 rule is a simplified Western version of haiku. Eastern sensibilities are much more focused on the way the content is laid out. Also Japanese is a very different linguistic system than English. I guess English speakers were trying to make a rule out of what they interpreted was a Japanese rule for haiku. The purist balk at the 5 7 5, and I have been trying to unlearn it, but hardly an expert on understanding the intricacies of this sport. Jane Reichhold is an expert, though, and has a great website and some books on the subject. http://www.ahapoetry.com/haiku.htm
